Dear Hacienda La Puente Unified Community,
July was an exciting month for HLPUSD, as our teachers, faculty and administrators worked diligently to prepare to welcome students back for the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
We started the month celebrating Independence Day with our HLPUSD Board members, students and the greater community at the Hacienda Heights Fourth of July Parade. We represented our District by driving HLPUSD trucks bedecked in patriotic décor alongside our Los Altos High School and Glen A. Wilson High School student vehicles and marching band performances.
We completed our summer school classes, programs and camps, with students excelling in various subjects and extracurricular activities. We also celebrated another successful HLPUSD speech and debate summer camp, where selected students showcased their hard work and learnings throughout this year’s comprehensive camp.
I would also like to thank our incredible Tech TOSA team for making this year’s Summer SORA Reading Campaign a huge success. The program was designed to help students experience the joy of reading during the summer months while having the chance to earn prizes, and we are proud of all our student participants.
I look forward to seeing you all on the first day of school!
As always, we are #ProudtobeHLPUSD.
Sincerely, Dr. Alfonso Jiménez
