Band (Year Long Course)

A-Band (Year Long Course)

This course is designed for advanced 7th and 8th grade band students who have taken the B-Band class in the 6th grade or previous year. We use the Standard of Excellence, Book 2 by Bruce Pearson which is the subsequent band method book to the first book. In A-Band, the students are performance-oriented and will be performing for sports rallies, a Halloween concert in October, the Holiday Concert in December, the District Band Festival, the Area Concert in May, the 8th grade promotion ceremony, and, the highlight of the year, performing at Knott's Berry Farm.

B-Band (Year Long Course)

This course is designed to further the knowledge of 6th grade band students who have taken beginning band in the 5th grade or students in the 7th and 8th grade who are interested in learning an instrument. We use the Standard of Excellence, Book 1 by Bruce Pearson which is a band method that follows the state standards for instrumental music in the public school system. This class teaches students to perform music on woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. These instruments include the flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba and drums. There are 2 performances; one is the Holiday Concert in December and the other is the Area Concert in May.
